Little City of Rocks

Winding 12–14 miles north of town, Little City of Rocks reveals a landscape carved by time — towering hoodoos, rock arches, and jagged spires rising from sagebrush plains. Hike along a creek-worn canyon, cross shallow washes, and discover hidden petroglyph panels etched by ancient hands. In spring, wildflowers flare across the rocks; in summer, moss and lichens add pockets of soft green against rust tones. The desert silence and shifting shadows make every turn feel like stepping into a secret world.
Be cautious on the last two miles — the dirt road is rough; 4WD is recommended, though careful 2WD vehicles can usually make it.

"I had a ton of fun here! While you could totally just hike in here, I was climbing and scrambling all over the fun and fascinating rock formations, and found a lot of cool, unique spots all over the place. There’s a dirt road into the area, and it’s well maintained. No bathrooms, and it isn’t wheelchair friendly or anything. Definitely not much more here than wilderness. No fees."
